TypeSync is a feature within Suitcase Fusion 7 that will allow you to synchronize your font libraries and use Suitcase Fusion 7 on up to two machines. You can also utilize TypeSync to backup and save your font collection so you never have to worry about losing your font collection due to a computer failure.
TypeSync Set Up
To utilize TypeSync, you must first enable a library to sync with our cloud based server.
- Once signed into Suitcase Fusion 7, select a library in the library pane
- Go to File menu > to TypeSync
- Select Enable Library
Note: You can also enable Library Syncing by selecting a library and right clicking your mouse. There will be option to enable library syncing.
How it works:
Typesync will synchronize local non-system libraries, but cannot sync system fonts, Google fonts, or Typekit fonts. You must set up Google and Typekit fonts separately on your second computer.
A synched library works just like a local library: you can add and remove fonts, sets, edit attributes, and collect fonts. Any change made to one computer is immediately synchronized to the cloud and to your other computer.
Using TypeSync as a backup:
Should you experience a hard drive failure, you can use the TypeSync feature to retrieve your font library. However, TypeSync shouldn’t be used as a standard backup plan. Extensis recommends performing a regular backup of your computer and use Suitcase Fusion’s Font Vault archive feature.
To stop synchronizing a library, right-click on the library and choose Disable Library Syncing. This only stops the synchronization from one computer. The previously-synced library will not be removed from either computer.
