Summary of problem:
You would like to mosaic color (3-band) and grayscale (1-band) images, or MG3 (3-band) and MG4 (4-band) images, but in adding tiles for mosaicking you receive the error “impedance mismatch – colorspace [50017]“ which means the input images do not all have the same number of bands.
Solution:
All images in a mosaic must have the same number of bands. If you are mosaicking greyscale and color images either convert your 3-band images to 1-band images or convert your 1-band images to 3-band images. If you are mosaicking MG3 and MG4 images you will need to convert them all to a single format.
To convert a 3-band (RGB) image to a 1-band (grayscale) image:
- Select Add image(s) and choose an image to add.
- Click Advanced Job Options to bring up the Advanced Job Options menu.
- Select the Bands tab (the Color Space tab in versions prior to 8.5).
- Select Grayscale for the output color space, select a band, then click OK.
- Make sure the image is selected in the Job list and click Run selected Jobs.
To convert a 1-band image to a 3-band image:
- Select Add color composite image to encode from the File The Add Color Composite Image dialog appears.
- Select the Red band and click Edit File Name. The Edit File Name (Red) dialog appears.
- Locate and select your 1-band file, then click OK.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the Green and Blue bands, using the same 1-band file.
- Click OK to exit dialogs.
- Make sure the image is selected in the Job list and click Run selected Jobs.
To convert between MG3 and MG4:
- Select Add image(s) and choose an image to add.
- Change the output file type to either MG3 or MG4.
- Make sure the image is selected in the Job list and click Run selected Jobs.
Once all of your images have the same number of bands, you may add them as tiles to the Job list for a single mosaic.
