Moving from a previous version of Suitcase Fusion that is not compatible with or are having issues with updating the current Suitcase Font Vault.
This is for all versions of Suitcase Fusion 1 (version 12.x) through 7 (version 18.x) on Mac or Windows.
Use the steps below to perform a manual migration using Suitcase Fusion 1 (version 12.x) through Suitcase Fusion 7 (version 18.x).
If you want to keep your font sets, here’s how to manually export your sets and fonts out of Suitcase Fusion (all versions) and then add them to Suitcase Fusion 8 (SF8) manually.
Export your SETS from Suitcase Fusion
a. Launch Suitcase Fusion.
b. For each set you would like to keep, select the font set in the top window and drag the set to the Desktop.
c. This creates a folder on your Desktop called “Collected Fonts” with all your font sets inside.
NOTE - The above process will not work if you have missing fonts (bad links visible with a “?”) in Suitcase Fusion. You must re-link or remove them first.
Add your SETS into SF8 via drag and drop
a. With the “Font Library” highlighted in SF8 (top left sidebar), drag each Suitcase Fusion set folder from the “Collected Fonts” folder on your Desktop and drop it literally on the word “Font Library”.
b. You will see your set added to SF8 under the “Font Library”.
c. Repeat for each set.
Export all FONTS from previous versions of Suitcase Fusion - No Sets/Organization
NOTE - This method is for collecting and adding all fonts to your Font Library. Previous sets and organization of your fonts will not be retained. Please use the above method if you want to retain your Sets and organization.
a. Put the drop down selector on “Suitcase Fusion Fonts” to see all of your fonts in the Fonts window (bottom window).
b. Select all (Command A) and choose Tools > Collect Fonts for Output.
c. Save to a new folder called “All Fonts” on your Desktop.
Add your FONTS to SF8 by using the drag and drop method.
a. Open SF8.
b. Highlight the “Font Library” in SF8 (top left sidebar) and drag the “All Fonts” folder you collected from your previous versions of Suitcase Fusion and drop it on to the Font Library.
c. Your fonts will be added to SF8.
