The left side of the toolbar at the top of the Connect Fonts window has three buttons: Temporary, Permanent, and Deactivate.
- Temporary activation means that Connect Fonts keeps the font active until the type core (the background process that Connect Fonts uses to activate and deactivate fonts) quits—when you log out of your user session ,or restart your computer.
- Permanent activation means that the type core will reactivate the fonts when the type core restarts. This is ideal for fonts you use frequently.
To activate a font, select it from the main window and click the Temporary button; the indicator light next to the font name will turn blue. If you click the Permanent button, the indicator light will turn green. You can activate more than one font at a time by selecting the desired fonts, then clicking the Temporary or Permanent button.
You can also click the indicator light to toggle font between temporary activation and deactivation.
You can activate or deactivate an entire set of fonts by selecting the set in the Font Library and clicking either the Temporary or Permanent button in the toolbar. An indicator light will show the activation status of the fonts in the set.
A blue light means the fonts in the set are activated temporarily and a green light means the fonts in the set are activated permanently. A gray circle means the fonts in the set have different activation statuses.
Additional Activation status and descriptions
The activation area next to a font, family, or set will show an icon indicating the font’s or font group’s activation status.
