Affected versions
This article applies to all versions of Connect Fonts, and Suitcase Fusion version 22 back to Suitcase Fusion 7.
Solution
Step 1: Convert your Local Libraries into Cloud Libraries -OR- Collect your fonts/sets
- The easiest way to revert to an earlier version is to first convert your Local Libraries into Personal Cloud Libraries. For more information, see Move Local Libraries to the Cloud.
- Otherwise, you can collect your fonts and sets from Connect Fonts, then manually import them into a new font library once you've installed the older version of the app. For more information, go to Collecting fonts from the Connect Fonts font vault.
Step 2: Remove the Google Fonts library from Connect Fonts
- In Connect Fonts: Select the File Menu > Remove Google Fonts
- Note: Connect Fonts makes the Google Fonts collection a personal cloud library.
- You should remove this library before reverting to Suitcase Fusion. If you don't, you will have two Google Fonts collections—one under Personal Libraries and one under Third-Party Fonts - when you open Suitcase Fusion.
Step 3: Uninstall the Connect Fonts Plug-ins
- In Connect Fonts:
- MacOS: Select the Connect Fonts menu > Manage Plugins
- Windows: Select Edit > Manage Plugins
- Uninstall the auto-activation plug-ins from Sketch and any Adobe Creative Cloud applications you are using by UNCHECKING the checkbox next to the Plugin.
- For information on removing the plug-ins, go to Using Connect Fonts Auto-activation Plug-ins.
Step 4: Stop the Type Core and delete two files
- MacOS: Select the Connect Fonts Menu > Preferences.
- Click "Stop Connect Fonts Type Core" - at the bottom of this window.
- Connect Fonts will now close.
- Go to the Preferences folder:
- Click on any blank space on your desktop. The Finder Menu will appear.
- Select the Go menu then press the Option key and you will see the Library appear.
- Select Library
- Click "Stop Connect Fonts Type Core" - at the bottom of this window.
In the Library, Click on the Preferences folder.
Move the following files, if present, to the Trash:

Using Cloud Libraries to Restore your Font Vault
Once you have uninstalled Connect Fonts from your computer and installed the older version of the application that you need, you will log in using your Extensis username and password.
Once you have logged in, Suitcase Fusion will automatically download your cloud libraries.
Recreating your Font Vault by Hand
You've collected your fonts from the font vault, uninstalled Connect Fonts and installed the older version of the app you need.
Log in using your Extensis username and password.
Once you have logged in, your font vault will be empty.
Add fonts by dragging your Collected Fonts folder onto the "Font Library" under Local Libraries. - see example
Once your fonts have been re-added, you can remove the Collected Fonts set.
- This will not delete your fonts. Your fonts are now in the "Font Library" itself.
- Now re-create your sets:
- Open your Collected Sets folder,
- Select all of the subfolders, and
- Drag them onto the "Font Library" - this will re-create your sets.
