Upgrading from Suitcase Fusion 7 - v21:
SF7 introduced personal and shared cloud libraries for standalone and Suitcase TeamSync users. Cloud libraries were called "TypeSync" until Suitcase Fusion v22.
Note: You must convert your local libraries to cloud libraries before installing the Extensis Connect desktop application. For more information, see Move Local Libraries to the Cloud in Connect Fonts.
When you convert your local libraries to cloud libraries, Suitcase Fusion copies your fonts and set information to the Extensis servers; when you log in on another computer, Suitcase Fusion and the Extensis Connect desktop application download your cloud libraries automatically. Cloud libraries work across versions of Suitcase Fusion and Extensis Connect so you can use it to create a new font vault.
- Open Suitcase Fusion
- Select the local libraries that you want to move to the cloud - it is possible that only one library at a time will work
- Choose File > TypeSync > Enable TypeSync (SF v21, SF9 and SF8) or File > TypeSync > Enable Library Sync (SF7)
Suitcase Fusion converts the library into a cloud library and uploads the contents, while retaining local copies of the fonts in your Font Vault. If you have more than one local library, you must convert them each individually.
Upgrading from Suitcase Fusion 6 and earlier: Collecting and Extracting Fonts Manually
For detailed instructions on extracting your fonts manually from a Suitcase Fusion font vault, refer to this article: Collecting / Extracting Fonts from the Font Vault. This applies to all versions of Suitcase Fusion or Connect Fonts, and can be helpful if you're using a legacy version that no longer opens or isn't compatible with your current operating system.
Uninstall Suitcase:
Once you've finished preparing for the upgrade, you can remove the old version of Suitcase Fusion if you are upgrading on the same machine. It's best to uninstall Suitcase Fusion before installing Extensis Connect, but only after you've ensured your fonts and sets are collected out or have been stored to the cloud. For more information, go to Uninstalling Suitcase Fusion.
