Collecting / Extracting Fonts from the Connect Fonts Font Vault

You can collect fonts from the Connect Fonts font vault if you want to send someone fonts used in a project, or move from Connect Fonts to another font manager such as Universal Type Server.

Fonts can be collected from local libraries, personal cloud libraries, Smart Searches, Google Fonts, and System Fonts. You can collect fonts from a Team Library only if you have proper permissions, otherwise you will see a warning.

You can't collect fonts from Adobe Fonts. 

Collecting the contents of a font library

1. Open Connect Fonts
2. Select a font library or collection from the left-hand panel
3. Choose File > Collect Fonts for Output; you must select a location for the collected fonts
4. Select your desktop and click Collect

Connect Fonts creates a Collected Fonts folder and place copies of your fonts inside, sorted by font family. If you're collecting fonts from more than one font library, repeat the previous steps for each library and you should label your collected fonts according to the library they come from.

Note: You can't collect fonts from the Adobe Fonts section. Connect Fonts can download the Google Fonts collection automatically; go to Build your Font Collection for details.

Exporting sets from a font library

You can select a set or group of sets from a local or cloud library and collect the fonts for output. Connect Fonts adds the fonts to the Collected Fonts folder, or creates a new Collected Fonts folder if it doesn't exist; the fonts are placed in folders for each set, labeled with the names of the sets.

1. Select one or more font sets in a font library
2. Go to File > Collect Fonts for Output
3. Select your desktop again and click Collect.

Extracting fonts manually from the font vault on macOS

If Connect Fonts or Suitcase Fusion won't open but you need to pull your fonts out of it, you can do so by locating the font vault file on your Mac and copying them out manually to another folder. All fonts that are stored in the font vault are sorted into folders by font format. Extracting fonts via this method does not retain font set information; only the font files themselves.

1. Locate your font vault in Finder. By default, it is in your User Library folder, but may reside elsewhere on your Mac:
   Connect Fonts: ~/Library/Extensis/Connect Fonts/
   Suitcase Fusion: ~/Library/Extensis/Suitcase Fusion/
   *on macOS, the user library is hidden by default, so you may need to reveal hidden files to see it; pressing Shift+Command+Period keys will toggle on/off hidden files:
   
   
2. Locate the .fontvault file in either the Connect Fonts or Suitcase Fusion folder, then right click on it and select "Show Package Contents":
   
3. Navigate through theSA/lfolders. Fonts are stored inside the font vault in separate folders based on font format, like the various folders highlighted blue below:
   
4. Select all of the folders that you see (highlighted blue in the above example), right click and select copy, then paste them into another folder of your choosing; doing so will have copied your fonts out of your font vault.
   You can also drag those folders (highlighted blue) directly into the Connect Fonts or Suitcase Fusion app when open to import them directly into another existing font vault. This is helpful for combining existing font vaults into one.

Extracting fonts manually from the font vault on Windows

If Connect Fonts or Suitcase Fusion won't open but you need to pull your fonts out of it, you can do so by locating the font vault file on your PC and copying them out manually to another folder. All fonts that are stored in the font vault are sorted into folders by font format. Extracting fonts via this method does not retain font set information; only the font files themselves.

1. Locate your font vault in Windows Explorer. By default, it is in your %LOCALAPPDATA% folder, but may reside elsewhere on your PC:
   Connect Fonts: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Extensis\Connect Fonts\
   Suitcase Fusion: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Extensis\Suitcase Fusion\
   *on Windows, the %LOCALAPPDATA% folder is located in your user folder, typically: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\
2. Inside the .fontvault folder for either Connect Fonts or Suitcase Fusion, you'll see folders like this:
   
3. Navigate through theSA/lfolders:

4. Select all of the folders that you see (circled red in the above example), right click and select copy, then paste them into another folder of your choosing; doing so will have copied your fonts out of your font vault.
